Pegasus is a frequently reoccurring figure in Greek Mythology. The white, winged horse is a common iconographic motif on Greek vases and sculpture and a symbol of luck. According to legend Pegasus was the son of Poisdon, God of the ocean. The image of the sea’s white foam galloping up the shore like a set of horses is a striking one of eternal life. Tarra’s individual Pegasus charms can be layered on her flexible paper-clip link chains to recreate this image or a single Pegasus can stand alone, an impressive figure of hope.

Pegasus was believed to carry messages from the God’s to mortals on earth and so become a figure of fate. Pegasus is therefore a reliable companion in times of uncertainty and change. Pegasus aided Perseus in his trails against the gorgon, Medusa and according to mythology the stamp of his foot would avert the destructive powers and restore harmony to the idyllic landscape of Mount Parnasus on which the nine graces live. An elegant image of Pegasus is seen in a 16th century painting by the Italian master Mantegna for the powerful woman, Isabella d’Este. The image of Pegasus, the mythical winged horse is a historic and mythical figure.
